Dear all:
This is the most recent update from Steve Seaberry @ BGCT. They are willing to “commit to 100% of the airfare for 10 people up to a maximum of $6,000 (based on $600 per person)”
The rough draft budget for the Shortterm mission to Waterbury in CT is
|
TOTAL BUDGETED COST FOR MISSION TRIP: $ |
10470 |
See attachment for details. I budgeted for $500 per person for tickets ($5000) which means the mission trip would cost an additional $5470. The budget is a general estimate based on 10 ppl going to Waterbury, CT to run a VBS with a BGCT partner ministry.
Should I send this to the Sandy and Mike or discuss first in next Tuesday meeting?
If the Mission committe is in agreement. I will contact Dr. Tyson with Waterbury ministries in CT to confirm the ministry needs and our team responsibilities as well as determine the potential lodging & meals and ministry location logistics.
Please advice,
Blessings,
Pastor Don

Don,
I got your voice message yesterday while on the road to visit family out of state for Thanksgiving. Thanks for your patience in waiting until after the BGCT annual meeting to get back to the trip planning. At this time, I can commit to 100% of the airfare for 10 people up to a maximum of $6,000 (based on $600 per person). This will allow you some direction and flexibility as you talk and plan with Maner. I know you’ll be interested in keeping the costs as low as possible for each of the team members. I suggest that you begin to work out the other details with Maner as soon as possible. Keep me informed as plans begin to come together, especially if the costs seem to be rising. I can always take a 2nd look at my budget later to possibly add more $$ if necessary.
I’ll be back in my office next week. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Dear Mr. Seaberry,
Thank you for your assistance with next years mission trip. In order to get confirmation from our church they will need a better idea regarding the expenses from the mission as well as any support available. I have developed a rough draft based on the potential ministry activities. The estimate includes flight expenses after checking the distance and drive time.If possible, please review the budget for items that I may have overlooked any necessary expenses.
I have based the budget off of the estimate that we will have 10 people. But, I will survey the youth and adults this weekend to get closer estimate.

Subject: Waterbury project
Don,
I left you a voice message and decided to go ahead and follow up with an email also. I got a positive word from Waterbury. They still have the week of July 19-24 open for a mission team. Here is additional information.
1. Are they flexible on numbers? Yes. They can take from 10-40. They can also take smaller groups and augment the workers with their own church members.
2. What are the housing options?
One option is to stay at the worksite for free. The team would have to use sleeping bags. Shower facilities are available.
Another option is to stay in a local hotel. Past teams have stayed 4 to a room at approximately $25 per person ($100 per room, not counting tax).
3. Are cooking facilities available? Yes, at both the main worksite and at the main center for Waterbury Ministries.
4. Are there other costs? Teams have been asked in past years to contribute toward the cost of materials, or to actually bring the materials themselves.
NOTE: Dr. Tyson (the ministry director) asked that you try to “lock in” the project as soon as possible. He has other churches that have also made inquiries, but they came after you and he wants to give you first priority. If you don’t want to take the July 19-24 date, then he’ll open it up to others to consider.
I suggest that you contact Dr. Maner Tyson direct and continue the conversation. Maner can fill in some additional information and details. Just keep me in the loop with copies of messages or reports of phone conversations. Maner can be reached at 203-754-5140 (office) or 203-558-5504 (cell). His email address is tyson@snet.net.
Blessings,
Steve

Dear all:
This morning I was finally able to contact Director Steve Seaberry regarding our previoius discussion and asked about the availability of the Waterbury short-term mission project and the potential of BGCT to support a portion of our youth group’s mission trip. In Steve’s booklet they were requesting groups during the four week in the month of July 2009. In light of DCCYC’s camp so close to the beginning of July. I suggest that we focus on either the 3rd or 4th week in July. He said he will check with Waterbury’s schedule. Also, Steve said as we move forward we can better determine how much of the mission trip could be covered by his budget but that he was willing to help as much as he could.
Please check to see if either of these two weeks would be an appropriate time for the youth to go.
Blessings,
Pastor Don

Subject: Mission Proposal Update
Dear all:
Just an update regarding the potential youth mission trips. Since the last mission committe meeting I set this monday as the date to provide a missions proposal. The following is a recap of the meetings and discussions as well as suggested mission trips.
The first meeting I had with a BGCT mission’s director, Steve Seaberry, who oversees the missions in the NOrtheast US and oversea. His sharing sounded very promising for various reasons:
1- It would allow us to partner with an establish missions against that we were already supporting, i.e., the BGCT.
2- He expressed a desire to be a significant assistance related to these mission tripsCCC mission expenses.
3- He already had established relationships with various churches who are in need of mission teams located state side. This would fall in line with CCC’s request for a mission in the US.
4- He is willing to assist us in the premission trip orientation and training process.
5- They also would be able to help with logistics.
6. He already has a detailed list of specific mission opportunities with specific churches with specific ministries already requested by local Baptist churches.
For local TX mission he directed me to speak with Josue Valerio. I also am waiting for Steve to reply to my emails and phone calls for confirmation reqarding the opportunities discussed above.
The second meeting, the CCC staff had with another BGCT mission director, Josué Valerio who shared the following opportunities. While he is the Mission Lead, he coordinates the missions in Texas, especially along the boarder river.
1. Short term Mission opportunities:
Laredo, TX: VBS, construction, evangelism, water project. There are 62 poor neighborhood that have no access of drinking water. BGCT will support with the orientation, VBS materials. We can partner with the local Baptist church on early summer.
Brownsville TX (on Gulf of Mexico): VBS, construction, evangelism, water project. Lodging: La Quinta $60/room. We can partner with the local Baptist church on early summer.
2. He would only be willing to assist with the expense of sending the pastor on a pre-mission preparation trip to the location in order to work out the mission trip details. This means the mission trip would be fully CCC funded.
3. Same as with Steve on #1, #3-5. The difference is in funding and specific churches that have already placed specific ministry requests. As of today I haven’t yet recieved the email with these details from Pastor Valerio.
This means that in order to provide the mission committee with a specific proposal for the Texas region. However, after inviting the youth to share their thoughts relating to what kinds of opportunities they would be interested in or could see the youth doing they shared the following:
Areas of interest/experience:
Inner city ministries
VBS
ESL
music
sports ministries
building/construction/clean-up ministries
I have invited the youth to continue to pray God to make clear the path, for unified & willing hearts for themselves and our parents/adults who might be coworkers.
After looking over the specific opportunities provided by Steve. I have listed a few that seem to be a potential fit:
1- Waterbury Baptist Ministries 222WEst Main st, waterbury CT 06702
Pastor Tyson… needs four mission teams to help conduct 4 weeks of DAy camp/VBS (5 1/1 hrs daily) for children. come and minister to preschoolers through 6th grade adn the community of waterbury by conducting fun wagon (block party style event) and prayer walking
2- Third Baptist: N. Stonington CT 06359
Pastor Pressley request a small VBS team to assist Aug 11.
3- Grace Haven Baptist NH, 03102
PAstor Clegg… requests VBS/children’s Camp/backyard club/sports clinic/ day camp, block party, music concert/drama.
4- Border Fellowship & new church Christian Community Church.
ME 04619 contact: Joe Rosebush requests assistance with evangelistic teams to do block parties, activity day camps with children, or service projects to reach the community.
Any one of these would seem to be appropriate; however, I have been unable to reach Steve to confirm if he is still able to offer the financial support, confirm the availability of these projects, and establish a projected budget.
I invite your feedback and will continue to pursue Steve Seaberry regarding our initial coversation and the 4 listed opportunites.
Blessings,
Pastor Don
