This year’s SYATP started with a splash but the ripples keep spreading. This years my involvement was only at one school, Wester. Honestly, I didn’t expect much in numbers but was excited at one of our girls passion to prayer for her school and find a way to encourage others. “Alot of our students done seem to care about their grades or classes” She felt that they needed prayer. I’m not sure how many promo cards or fliers she handed out. But by the end of that Wednesday morning (9/24/08) over a dozen friends showed up.
That night she called back to share what God had been doing. She recounted her conversation with one of her classmates who had shared that he had been praying for something like this to happen in his school. He had asked how often we meet and she shared its once a year but that doesn’t mean we can do it more often. They both thought it was a good idea. So that night she invited me to come back the next week on Tuesday.
Lord God its exciting to see the effect one youth can have and how a spark of faith can lead to greater spiritual impact. Even today, 3 weeks into our minitry of prayer. The number of youth attending continues to expand. Please guide us according to your will. Lord please cause this work to bring change in each of the youth’s life. Let them experience your love and mercy. Strengthen their faith and grant them humble teacheable hearts. Each week I find my heart touched by their transparency and simplicity of prayers that touch the core of their life and the life of their classmates and teachers.
Please help us not to become a distraction but instead be a place where lives can be comforted in prayers for one another and experience authentic spiritual renewal as we seek your face.

No ones very surprised or find it very shocking when hardened criminals rebuff and turn their noses up at the law, but its another thing when it the average citizen would choose to ignore a representative of the state. But such was the state of Israel during the time of Jeremiah. The Lord God had warned Israel of their coming Judgment but none had the interest to listen as revealed in verse 10
To whom can I speak and give warning?
Who will listen to me?
Their ears are closed
so they cannot hear.
The word of the LORD is offensive to them;
they find no pleasure in it.
It no longer interested the Jews to give ear to Gods word they had already turned aside. What a warning to us who have been entrusted with God’s word. If the Jews whom had solely been given charge of God’s word to be God’s people could turn away from the Giver of Life how can we not be wary of our own tendencies to turn away to our own way? Again and again God entreated them to turn back even to look to Him and ask how to walk in His path but they choose their own.
The potential to ignore God is always there. God please help me not to turn away from You and Your Word. I pray that You will grant me and all who read this with the heart to hunger Your word. Give us willing hearts to attend to the nurturing of our faith. Help us to develop this spiritual disciplines that rekindle our love fro you and your word. Help us not to stand at the crossroads and blow off our sin. Instead lead us to repentance and give us ears to hear Your word. May you give each of us a willingness to forsake some comfort that we might have the opportunity to practice making you great in our life by spending time in fasting and prayer. Whether we give up our DS’s, our internet, our manga, our iPods and yes food itself and spend that time with you and your word instead. As we read your word would you please grant us repent hearts and rekindle our desire to know you and increase our spiritual passion to listen and obey your will.

Some of the greatest works of God kingdom begins with small starting and as Pastor Paul’s message earlier this month. How from the seed branches can shoot out. Let us hold high our expectations for God to bless the work that is founded in prayer.
Even this morning what began with two- slowly expanded =)

Youth Paintball Challenge
Meet @ CCC Sat. 8am return est. 2pm DUe to IKE Due to Ike the cleaning was moved to this Saturday 9-12 S Paintball is 1-6pm
***BAse cost $15 (4hrs rental and 250 paint) extra paint can be purchased and food separate. Thsi will give everyone the opportunity to keep down the cost.
Cost: $25 for rental and lunch (pizza)
Age Limit is 10yrs old- See links. Any chldren not in youth group must be accompanied parents or adult chaperon.
