Don,
I left you a voice message and decided to go ahead and follow up with an email also. I got a positive word from Waterbury. They still have the week of July 19-24 open for a mission team. Here is additional information.
1. Are they flexible on numbers? Yes. They can take from 10-40. They can also take smaller groups and augment the workers with their own church members.
2. What are the housing options?
One option is to stay at the worksite for free. The team would have to use sleeping bags. Shower facilities are available.
Another option is to stay in a local hotel. Past teams have stayed 4 to a room at approximately $25 per person ($100 per room, not counting tax).
3. Are cooking facilities available? Yes, at both the main worksite and at the main center for Waterbury Ministries.
4. Are there other costs? Teams have been asked in past years to contribute toward the cost of materials, or to actually bring the materials themselves.
NOTE: Dr. Tyson (the ministry director) asked that you try to “lock in” the project as soon as possible. He has other churches that have also made inquiries, but they came after you and he wants to give you first priority. If you don’t want to take the July 19-24 date, then he’ll open it up to others to consider.
I suggest that you contact Dr. Maner Tyson direct and continue the conversation. Maner can fill in some additional information and details. Just keep me in the loop with copies of messages or reports of phone conversations. Maner can be reached at 203-754-5140 (office) or 203-558-5504 (cell). His email address is tyson@snet.net.
Blessings,
Steve
